Pro-Trump Republicans will get nothing, not even retention of a House majority

May 13, 2017 01:33

Republican members of Congress deluded themselves that President Trump’s narcissistic personality, dishonesty and abject ignorance didn’t matter. Turns out, he’s so clueless that he essentially confessed to obstruction of justice in firing FBI Director James B. Comey, who was intensifying the Russia investigation. In the end none of this matters if it doesn't get people out to vote and during midterms that is something the center and left don't always do so well at. And if the right shows up in force but no one else does the House won't change.

Does what's happened in the past mean we're supposed to just give up? I am not about to do that myself!

The past is the past, but there’s no reason things can't change, if enough people are willing to get out there and work to make it happen. I know a ton of people who are fired up and ready to do just that. There are so many organized groups working on this, too, including Indivisible, Swing Left, and all kinds of others, and we are getting ready to mobilize!

Mark my words, 2018 is going to be different.

People were fired up in 08 and 12 too, 2010 and 14 still happened.

And please tell me where I said anyone should give up. I was pointing out the flaw in the article. At no point does it comment about the need to make sure people get out to vote and that is the only thing that matters and while I know I'll be voting I know at least one left leaning person that has stated he won't be voting. Now it is a year and a half away so maybe he'll change his mind and maybe he's in the minority.

2018 might be different, the only way to know is to wait for Nov 7 2018 and look who won on the 6th.

I'll believe it when I see it. Polls are great in theory, but in actuality, Republicans vote faithfully while Democrats don't. It doesn't matter how many people want the house to turn blue, it only matters who shows up during a mid-term election.

Of course it matters who shows up, and Democrats don't have the best track record in that regard. But just because something has been a certain way in the past doesn't mean it has to stay that way. I know a ton of people who are incredibly fired up and ready to work their asses off to change things in 2018. I'm one of them, and I'll be damned if I'm going to sit in my easy chair wringing my hands and going, "Dems won't go to the polls because because they never do, alas and alack, woe is me," lol.

We CAN change things. We just need to get out there and make it happen!
