As the news broke late this [Monday] afternoon, the politicos of Washington stared into their smartphones, stunned, struggling with what to make of it. TV networks cut into their regularly scheduled programming. Chyrons promising “breaking news” actually delivered it: President Donald Trump had fired FBI Director James Comey.

Are democrats able to filibuster Trump's FBI director appointee? I realize that republicans can nuke the filibuster on this, but can democrats at least successfully attempt a filibuster for a while?

From what I understand, he only needs a simple majority, but there may be some Republicans willing to stand up to an appointee not seen as sufficiently independent.

I agree. And things are getting crazier every day. Trump keeps changing his stories, he gets contradicted by someone or something, he changes his story again... lather rinse repeat! I can't even keep up any more.  His attempts to cover his ample orange ass are beyond farcical at this point. I just wonder how much longer this circus can continue. If the GOP didn't have a stranglehold on both houses of Congress, an independent investigation would have been underway weeks ago. *sigh* I honestly think the truth will come out eventually, but it's taking a lot longer than it needs to, thanks to Repugs on Congress protecting him.
