Interesting, although I feel like many pro-gun folks who use the "just a tool" line will bring up the car comparison again, validly in some ways, most ways not so much. I do know a common criticism I've heard from people who actually use them in their career, is that they wish most movies and video games wouldn't show them taking people down so quickly and efficiently. Even with a good shot, it isn't always like that, and even if you train/practice, you're not going to have that element be part of it unless it is a simulator. They say a lot of the "but I gotta protect my property" folks could be in for a swift and dangerous surprise when they find people generally keep coming at them, and/or often have a chance to shoot back

I read the whole thing, and it was fascinating and disturbing and so sad.
Thank goodness for people like Dr. Goldberg, both for her skills and compassion and for her willingness to keep doing a job that must often feel like banging her head against the wall.
