“The strategy of courting wealthy, older, white suburbanites while taking voters of color and progressives for granted, and writing off all rural whites entirely, has failed - full stop.

yet it was okay to potentially take Clinton voters for granted, which included a lot of older Black women, by replacing her with Bernie because of the fantasy that "BERNIE WOULDA WON".

It wasn't just grandparents, it was Black women over 35 in general. And the Sanders support was still around 30%, he still has a lot of convincing to do. Maybe it would help next time if his supporters don't dismiss the "South" as being uninformed Confederates who really don't matter because those states suck anyway.

I'm a black woman under 35 who strongly regrets my vote for Sanders at this point. He seems to think abortion rights aren't a deal breaker for us.

The leadership of the dem party should reflect their most loyal voting base. Specifically black women. Period.

Nina Turner is a great example of someone who I'd love to take a leadership role in the democratic party, she has the whole package!

Some interviews with Nina Turner:

"On Reality Asserts Itself, Nina Turner, former Ohio State Senator and leading Bernie Sanders surrogate during the primary, tells host Paul Jay that she grew up poor, believing in the Democratic Party and the Clintons but she came to understand the failure of the Party to serve the needs of the African-American community and poor white workers"

On Reality Asserts Itself, Nina Turner tells host Paul Jay that Democrats and progressives need to stand up and challenge establishment Democrats in the primaries all across the country. "Either you're with the people or you're not."

I'm ready for her or someone like her to be the face of progressives at this point. I'm over Sanders.

Perez is a mess but I can't believe Sanders is out here supporting anti-abortion candidates.

I'm mad at everybody right now.

How can he say that with a straight face when they put Hope on the ballot in 2008 and have lost everything but Obama's presidency since then. Does he think the voters haven't noticed that republicans control every branch of government? lol

I just wish Sanders would start his own party at this point. It's what Clinton hacks want. So when the vote gets split and dems never win anything again, they'll only have themselves to blame.

The fact that people actually think the current democratic party is worth a damn is laughable. They couldn't win anything with Donald Fucking Trump at the top of the ticket. If that's not a sign that it's time for a massive overhaul, then I don't know what is. Dems will continue to lose as long as they continue to alienate middle America and continue to talk about wanting to help minority communities while doing nothing about it.

preach it! like, whether you support bernie sanders or not, this past election proved that the democratic party is broken and needs fixing. they can't just sweep the reasons why it's so divided under the rug while continuing the pointless endeavor of trying to get moderate republicans to switch teams during the next election-- they'd be 10000x better off if they tried to appeal to those on the left who have since distanced themselves from the party and bring them back to the fold.

(edited to fix typo)
