I wrote to both of my Senators roughly the following:
Judge Gorsuch is an intelligent and qualified jurist -- more right-wing than I would prefer, but no more so than I expect of a Republican President facing a Republican Congress, and more evasive than I would like, but no more so than most Supreme Court nominees since Bork. He deserves a vote on his qualifications.
He also deserves to wait at least 293 days for that vote, the same length of time that the previous Senate refused to act on Judge Garland's nomination. Accordingly, I recommend filibustering this nominee, and ANY Trump nominee for the Supreme Court, until at least November 20, 293 days after Judge Gorsuch was nominated.
I don't see anything to gain by "saving" the filibuster for the next, even worse, nominee: if Senator McConnell is willing to "go nuclear", he'll be just as willing to do it then.
