I tend to think that the police always responds to people who have been stalked by ex-boyfriends/girlfriends whatever as something not a serious crime when it clearly is a red flag (like this case) and the only time the police take this as a serious crime is if something bad happens (like someone getting hurt). But I think that the police should respond to stalkers as a serious case and not just do nothing (cause the end result can be exactly what happened to Shana Grice).

Also, OP can you let everyone know about the outcome of the IPCC watchdog on the police who didn't handle Shana Grice's complaint as well as the trial case against her ex-boyfriend!

It's not surprising really. Stalking? Domestic violence? Very low on their priority list. I mean, you have tens of thousands of rape kits sitting in evidence rooms across the United States, UNTESTED! Just sitting there, nothing done, likely for years.

We're women after all. I mean, who cares if bad shit happens to us, right? I mean, a Florida woman who fired a warning shot at her abusive husband got a 20-year jail sentence. I wonder how many years her abusive husband was sentenced to. Hmmm...

This particular incident was in the UK, but it shows that cops in other countries can be wicked shitty too. Honestly when I was first reading this article part of me thought this could have taken place in Canada as well.
