Romani children in Slovakia are segregated in schools, bullied by teachers and misdiagnosed as mentally disabled because of anti-Roma racism, according to human rights groups.

Great post OP!

Sadly I can easily believe all this. Years and years ago when I was in college, I had a friend from Romania. He and his family moved to the United States when he was young (around 5-ish iirc) and he was very American-ized. Then one day someone in our dorm started talking about how her cousin was marrying into a Roma family and was freaking out because they'd only given guests a 2 month warning. My Romanian friend suddenly exploded into this long rant (another friend in the room started keeping track and put it at around just under an hour). This also ended up being the day I learned that 'g*psy' is a slur. But yeah...I can believe all this is true based off that one incident alone because seriously, if someone who had spent around 3/4 of his life in the United States where this isn't really a thing (not like in Europe anyways) can explode into such hatred based on just family and cultural background...
