Watched a documentary last night called 'Canada's Lost Girls', it was so heartbreaking and infuriating. I can't believe how little effort the authorities make when indigenous women and girls go missing.
It's just tragic and fucking needs to change. I mean, just the problems with access to uncontaminated drinking water is utterly shameful and one example of how indigenous people are treated here: the problems have been going on for literally decades in many cases while no one in the successive governments has done anything much about this.
And thanks for relating your experiences, that's really interesting.
-I read a bit about Ireland (i.e. Irish republic, I have relatives there so...), where women were encouraged to go on strike over the abortion ban in that country (i.e. the 'rights' of the unborn fetus are actually enshrined as a constitutional amendment there, the 8th amendment). Thousands of people marched in Dublin for a repeal: http://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/thousands-march-against-eighth-amendment-in-dublin-1.3002375
AHEM. I wore all red yesterday and looked great!!!
I agree that it's a failure of the U.S. labor movement that striking is only for the privileged with paid leave time now. I'm not mad at the women who didn't participate, I'm mad at the system that won't let them strike.

And I wish my city had done one in our public transit, it would have been pretty visible that way.
