Report: Brownback to be named ambassador to the U.N. for food and agriculture

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback will be named the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations for Food and Agriculture, according to a public radio report.

He'll probably do a lot less damage in the UN position. Until just now, I didn't know the U.S. had an "ambassador to the UN for food and agriculture".

Even if the new governor has roughly the same political views (he's something of an unknown quantity, according to the source), he would have the opportunity to negotiate changes in course with the Legislature without looking like he was backing down.

Maybe Trump threw a dart at a list of cabinet positions and then remembered he was selecting ambassadors.
