I'm really thankful that I live somewhere where healthcare is considered a human right and whatever happens to me or whatever my situation will be, I will always get what I need so everybody who needs it will be helped with their healthcare and doesn't have to starve. I would say that's civilization, but that would be unfair to all the countries who would do that for their population if they had the finances for it but are just to poor or in a serious crisis that doesn't allow that.

This is such an informative post. The author's account of growing up in such a extreme poverty is heartbreaking. It's so true, the system is designed to keep the disadvantaged down. I live in the UK, and I know that levels of poverty are extremely high. That's partially why a lot of people voted for Brexit, they saw that many ordinary working-class people were unable to support their families and decided to blame immigrants rather than the corrupt system. I constantly see adverts from food banks asking for more donations and volunteers. In my town, the number of homeless people has more than tripled in the past 5 years.
