Fed up with what she felt was mismanagement at her hospital, gynaecologist Homa Amiri Kakar had walked out of her job in a remote part of Afghanistan and returned to the capital. As a med student, I am amazed every single day by the doctors that teach me. I can't imagine how many patients Dr Kakar is responsible for, she sounds absolutely incredible. And WTF at a 6 y/o being raped by her 45 y/o "husband". If I saw a patient like that I wouldn't be able to stop myself from fucking murdering the bastard. I'll take the jail time, it would be worth it.

"The girl had been married by her family to a 45-year-old man and sex with him had caused her to bleed and develop an infection."

Excuse you, that's not sex, that's rape. She was SIX YEARS OLD. :( Barely more than a baby. I hope she's safe now.

It is beyond the farthest reaches of my imagination to even begin to fathom what kind of parents (or father, really, since I doubt her mother had much say in the matter) would send their six-year-old daughter off to be raped by a grown-ass man. Oh, you think she might need a doctor afterwards? NO FUCKING SHIT!

I just wanted to say that I read this and that it is so incredibly tragic. Afghan women deserve better.

...And I literally have no words at that story of the rape of that poor little child. OMG.

Thank you for posting about this, OP.
