I guess between Agent Orange and this fuckery I was really wondering if there is any justice in this world.
I do believe things like this can change though, but we (i.e. the people all over the world who give a damn about human rights) have to get angry about this shit and not let these bastards win.
Sorry for the preachy and the depression there, though. :)
Wooooooow. That he would look at vulnerable children fleeing war and famine and use that opportunity to molest them... He needs to be put down tbh. There's no rehabilitating that kind of evil. But he belongs to a Church so he'll probably be moved to another country where he can abuse other vulnerable children. As for Theresa May, never forget that when she was home secretary she funded a scheme where vans were driven around diverse areas of the UK with the words "Go home or face arrest" on them. She doesn't give a fuck about refugees, children or not.
OP, I don't think I say it enough, but you're posts are always so informative and well done. I know I don't comment on every one, but I read every one, and I appreciate your work!
Refugees shouldn't be going through any of this. We should all be welcoming them with open arms. We should all be welcoming everyone with open arms. Human race is trash.
And I completely agree. Especially when one considers the role western countries play in creating and maintaining horrible human rights situations in the first place. (And I realize that this may be somewhat of an oversimplification in that there is always a complex interplay of elements involved including local factors and events, but I think the statement is true, nonetheless.)
Examples include the horrible 'proxy war' being waged in Syria, as well as the role played by western companies in many countries: did you know that a Canadian company called Nevsun is essentially bankrolling the current dictator of Eritrea, who is responsible for massive human rights abuses in the country? Eritrea is one country from which there is a LOT of attempted migration to Europe, at the moment. (1,2)
The EU is yet again outsourcing its responsibility to protect the rights of migrants and refugees with no guarantees about what will happen to the many men, women, and children after they have been returned to Libya.
Adding another layer to this fuckery, (maybe OT) I was listening to BBC this morning discussing how this all plays into the hands of the "Brexiters" and Theresa May's Anti-EU needs. Nothing like a good child rape scandal to get people riled up against an institution. Throw in the fact the rapist happened to be Catholic and you've got all the check boxes for a scandalous political hammer.
