like one of my favorite things abut Kitt is that she unapologetically OWNED herself. Her sexuality, her voice, her confidence, was all about her, not men or media or anything.
Like if she didn't feel like a man would genuinely love her 100%, she pretty much told them to GTFO
like literally she was all but banned from USA for speaking out against the First Lady and Vietnam
Also she had a really good sense of humor. Disney based the character of Yzma off her (physically) and she thought it was hilarious. Unfortunately her song was cut from the movie but they gave her a huge number in the sequel. She pretty much worked all the way up until her death.
I LOVE this quote: “I’m a dirt person,” she told Ebony magazine in 1993. “I trust the dirt. I don’t trust diamonds and gold.” She'll always be Yzma above all else to me. <3
Kitt's extraordinary life and elusive past has come under the spotlight five years after her death, with publication of a biography called America's Mistress: Eartha Kitt, Her Life and Times by British journalist John Williams.

Damn, what a compliment.
I didn't know any of that about her family history. That was so sad.
Thanks for the suggestion, blackjedii.
