The End of Progressive NeoliberalismThe election of Donald Trump represents one of a series of dramatic political uprisings that together signal a collapse of neoliberal hegemony. These uprisings include the Brexit vote in the United Kingdom, the rejection of the Renzi ( Read more... )

In its U.S. form, progressive neoliberalism is an alliance of mainstream currents of new social movements (feminism, anti-racism, multiculturalism, and LGBTQ rights), on the one side, and high-end “symbolic” and service-based business sectors (Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and Hollywood), on the other.

I usually refer to this video:

And it's sad bc quite often I side-eye social justice causes bc quite often the core message of the cause doesn't seem to be "make life better" but instead "spend money! Feel morally good!!"

I am so done with hoping Democrats can get their shit in order though.

This was a good video, so thanks for posting. But it made me depressed too.

It's rather sobering when you start to realize pretty much every Progressive movement can be co-opted and marketed and exploited big time.

If you work hard and you work full time you shouldn’t live in poverty.

aaaand that's the moment you realize this lot are far more conservative than they believe themselves to be. The whole platform is based on putting everyone to work, and then giving them a cookie for being good little capitalist drones. Let's be sure to put everyone through school, because that sets them up to work even harder! Oh, and let's erect trade barriers around our borders, so every human being in our country can focus on making even more stuff! Yeah! Produce! Consume! America number one! Ugh. On the economy this "progressive" wing sounds near-identical to Donald Trump.

If I get it right, you see this current round of Democratic "revolutionaries" as useful patsies whose inevitable failure will trigger a truly revolutionary change in our social structure. Aren't you concerned that a failure of the Democratic "progressive" wing to bring meaningful change will just cause the pendulum to swing back to the Republicans and perpetuate the broken system ( ... )

Please do it and keep losing election. there are more people closer to the middle than the far left or far right. The Republican party is a sewer dump cause they allowed the far right to take over. The far left is just as delusional imo. DEspise both, not equally , but i really dislike both
