Been watching. This is the airport I use, though most times I'm going in and out of West Palm. It's scary. He had his bag in checked luggage, took it off the carousel, went into the bathroom, came back out and opened fire.

Air Canada has no record of a passenger named Esteban Santiago on the flight to FLL, nor of any checked firearms. the fuck.

I'm confused. Was he traveling under a fake name? I mean, I could easily see him not admitting that he had a gun in his checked bag, but the name thing is confusing me.

this reporter is not letting him get away with only talking to the not-yet-inaugurated and not the sitting president.

"Fatal shootings at airports, where security is tight, are unusual. In November 2016, a disgruntled former employee opened fire at the Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City, killing a Southwest Airlines worker."

.."unusual" yet the last one happened less than 2 months ago..

The news coverage I've watched has made the point that this was made possible by the fact that people are allowed to travel with a gun as long as it is in their CHECKED (rather than carry on) luggage. This made it a simple matter for him to grab his bag off the carousel, whip it out, and use it. To which I say, WTF.

Yeah, I didn't think about how vulnerable the luggage claim/pick-up area is until this week. Anybody could take dangerous items out of their checked luggage or just walk inside from parking and cause a problem.

I actually thought of that right away. I've never flown since I was a baby so I don't know about flying itself, but I remember being able to go past security with relative ease to greet my grandmother at the gate before 9/11 and that we had to settle with meeting her in the baggage claim area in the years after that. I remember thinking, even at age 13 '..what's going to stop someone from walking in here and pulling something?' This is also why I reported the scissors that I saw sitting on the baggage carousel when we were waiting because wtf, sharp objects just laying unattended around in an airport like that seemed wtf to me

It's also supposed to be unloaded..but they can declare their ammo and travel with that too, so of course all they need to do is go in the bathroom and load it up like this guy supposedly did and bam X_X
