When I was a kid, I learned at school when to call emergency services and what to say (what happened? when did it happen? how many people are involved?) and over twenty years later it's still stuck in my head because IT'S IMPORTANT.

That sounds like a really good idea and should probably have been implemented in Canada (it wasn't while I was in school, that's for sure). :)

Yikes.

I saw (in another article I didn't wind up posting) that some people called to complain that the pizza they ordered hadn't been delivered yet.

*shakes head*

I called 911 three times in a row, back when I was working with my mom at a design studio store. Car accidents at that stop light at the corner of the building we were in and three car crashes happened within in minutes of each other. I should mention this happened on a Friday 13th.....

Wow. That must have been some Friday the 13th. Yikes. I hope no one was hurt though.

In my case, it wound up being my upstairs neighbor's having put out his cigarette in a flower pot ('cause those should absolutely double as ashtrays, don't ya know) and thus causing a fire on his balcony (i.e. apparently there have been a lot of people doing this in my city and they had to put out a public announcement that this is dangerous even if the butt has been put out, yikes, because apparently it smolders for a while and can be encouraged by the decaying plant matter in the soil I'm guessing), which damaged my balcony as well and killed my flowers & flower pots.

I also loved him for announcing to the entire neighborhood when he was getting some by leaving his windows wide open so we could all get the audio soundtrack.

Sorry for the kvetching there, lol, gotta love having neighbors sometimes. :-D :-D
