Great post. This is such a shit-show.

I took a ferry to Melilla on a whim a couple years ago. It's one of the oddest places I have visited. It's almost defiantly European. There is a big ol' fort on the point and a massive fence around the city and military guys everywhere. And for what? A tiny little rocky outcrop sticking out the top of Africa. Really strange. It felt like stepping back in time to the days of the Phoenicians or something.
