It's got worse. That post today asking for POC and specifically WOC to have one post and it was filled with white Women posting 'listening' or white tearing over not being allowed to participate. Then the admin post which is just as bad.
I'm grateful to PSN for one thing. I never understood what people were talking about with white feminism. Or the criticisms of it. I get it now.
I left the group after someone added me on their own (WTF is up with that, Facebook?!?), after seeing what it was all about. Almost entirely white, middle aged, middle and upper class women talking about how great they were for not voting for Orange Voldemort. I did stay in the local, forced-by-Chamberlain-to-change-its-name, state action group, which WAS focused more on concrete actions and more committed to diversity.
Naturally, there was a post on the local group today, with most comments being similar to what's here and what was in the HuffPo article.
And then a white dude came in and tone-policed everyone, and wondered why we can't just all be friends, and mansplained to a woman who works in publishing how publishing works and why this wasn't as bad as it looks.
Yeah, I was really bummed that instead of using the group for political calls to action, it turned into a storytelling group. I'm glad at least the local chapters came out of it. My local group is really focused on action which is awesome.
And yes, I do live near Chicago. A chapter closer than that would be nice, but I don't know if they are only in major cities. I'll check out this info. Thanks again.

And so glad I'm not the only one who noticed this and anticipated the potential for profiteering.

If there is a secret FB one if someone here is in it they can add you if they have your FB name.
Otherwise, it looks like there is a website here, as well as some public MeetUp posts.
