Good try, McCrory, but even a panel on FOX (my mom watches it) called it a power grab and doubted its legality. And is it just me, or is the go-to for every jerk doing shady shit and getting called on it to deride his detractors as "paid protesters"?

I blame Drumpf for the "paid protestor " thing. Or at least for making it the go-to excuse for shitty Republican politicians who need to "explain away" people being strongly opposed to their actions. "Those people are just 'paid protestors'--all the 'real voters' are solidly behind my fuckery!"

Ed. to augment, not change, my original sentiments.

He really wants his legacy to be that he flipped this state from Republican to Democrat. I think if this does end up standing, voters will continue to vote Republicans out of office. They did it with him, so I have faith they will do it with the others.

With the governor and other statewide races, maybe, but the legislative districts are so horribly gerrymandered that it will be really tough to change anything about the General Assembly until the districts are redrawn. (Which the courts are trying to make happen, but the last time the NC GOP redrew gerrymandered districts, they just made them gerrymandered again but in a less racially-obvious way. So I'm hopeful but still skeptical.) If the districts were drawn fairly and black voters weren't being suppressed, NC would be a purple state already.

Sorry if this sounds like an attack on you or your comment; I'm not upset with anything you said and I hope you're right. I'm just super frustrated because I'm a native North Carolinian and have been feeling somewhat hopeless about the political situation recently. It's hard to change things when the reigning party doesn't play fair.
