Bwahahaha!

Those of us who work in customer service occupations that use kiosks for the customers know that virtually nothing changes. Customers are the stupidest form of the human experience. Everyone becomes instantly less intelligent on walking into any store or service center. Instead of cashiers, they will need concierges to help the customers navigate the choices.

That was my thought too lol. I've been trapped in the self-checkout line at Walmart and Target many times because people can't figure out how to use the machines, or the machine is malfunctioning, and it takes like five employees to come and figure it out. I prefer having a cashier check me out if I have more than one or two items because it's often faster. If I wanted to check myself out I will order something online, but in store I prefer a real human.

*raises hand* Me too - I have never once used a self-checkout. The few times a worker has pointed out that self-checkout had shorter lines, I told them I never use self-checkout because I wanted to protect their jobs. And as my husband says, we don't get an extra discount for doing the cashier's job - that savings all goes right into the CEO's pocket.

I'd never buy from something like this, to be honest. As often as I get food poisoning I wouldn't feel comfortable with something even *less* monitored.

As easy as fast food is, people still like to take care of their own food.

Odd that "IoT-for-All" couldn't take a guess about how Amazon's technology might work.

Lots of chains here are plugging in self checkouts, but they're all glitchy as fuck. I use them when I have one item and can dash through....until the system goes haywire and tells me to summon a clerk. There's a clerk but unless you're actually dying in the aisle they're not going to help you.

And it doesn't do discount at till or any number of things. So I rarely ever bother with them.

On the min income, I've read posts of people screaming this is the end of work! and how dare we pay people to freeload! and when presented with "pay more in min wage" they get all hacked over that too. My thinking: Either you're going to pay a higher wage for all labor, or pay in min income taxation support, so pick your poison.

I've been out of work and searching. I'd like to work but no one wants to hire so ok, bring on the min income. suits me fine.
