MILWAUKEE - After nearly 25 years, I’m stepping down from my daily conservative talk radio show at the end of this month. I’m not leaving because of the rise of Donald J. Thanks for this article OP. I've been trying to get out of my bubble and read more stuff from sane conservatives to try to get a better idea of just what the fuck is going on over there.

It's tough to find, because a big chunk of the #NeverTrump crowd who stuck it out is the most hard-line religious conservatives, whose righteousness can be tough to swallow. There are a bunch of those guys on RedState.com. Just be prepared before you go in - the site has a lot of tabloid headlines, though imo it is still a step above blatant propaganda outlets like Breitbart. I check it out about once a week just to see how the big stories are being represented on the other side.

For less hysterical commentary The National Review is probably the best place to find it. I also like the really wonky sites that are not really conservative, but definitely very beltway/establishment-y. SCOTUSblog and Lawfare Blog are two great reads if you are a political junkie.

The Republicans and their supporters have been playing Russian Roulette for decades. Only this time, the chamber probably isn't empty. I think a lot of this got it's start in 1964 during the election between LBJ and Goldwater. They've been playing with fire for over 50 years and they not only got burned, but the whole house might just burn down with them.

I would add because of the internet, it has made it very difficult for the old guard to put out the fires that they started. Thanks to technology, is like someone decided to go thermonuclear on that last spin.

I definitely agree - the internet definitely helped elements within the base find each other and the spin out of control, and probably inducted new members into their way of thinking, as well.
