Neoliberals Using Massive Gaslighting to Keep Masses Warm During Orange Mutant Reign.

The Clintons have done enough damage: Steven Strauss
They need to take their money, step away from politics and hope no one follows their example.

I am frustrated that after planning her entire campaign around Trump being dangerously unstable and an existential threat to the country, she's still saying we need to wait and see, give him a chance. She either doesn't think he is a threat or she is dropping the ball in helping normalize him.

The Clintons or the Trump administration?

Both of them.

Either the Clintons/Establishment Democrats lied about Trump and he is not that bad. Or they are getting marching orders from their donors/Wall Street to avoid spooking the markets so they can go back to business as usual.

Call me cynical, but when politicians are telling you to give Orange Führer a chance, something has to be rotten with them.

At times, liberal forms of identity politics can fall into this trap. The reactionary that blames the plight of workers on the breakdown of traditional marriage and porous borders has more in common with the liberal pundit who blames racism and homophobia on the ignorance of white workers than either would like to admit.

Yep.
Pretty much.

Unfortunately this is a far bigger problem than I think most outlets realize, given that politico is the only website I've been reading where "THEY'RE JUST RACIST / SEXIST!" doesn't seem to be the go-to oversimplified explanation for behavior.

We must recognize, as a class, that working-class women have more in common with working-class men than they do with Marissa Mayer, and fight together to end exploitation of male and (particularly) female labor.

it's like people haven't been trying to make white voters to realize this for decades, and until we confront why a lot of the Ws in the working class would rather not align with non-white voters, we'll get the same results. i guess it's hard to acknowledge some of those voters do know that they would be better off by fighting alongside other working and middle class folks, but don't want to.

But it’s hard to blame sexism or racism for Clinton’s loss.

maybe not for clinton's loss, but i will always think the grand majority of trump voters are racist. i also don't understand why there's a need to completely discount racist and sexist forces. there are a lot reasons why Clinton lost, and racism and sexism were two of those reasons.

Because that hurts their feelings and then they'll never vote Democrat again or something

I agree that you can get the message out to working class voters without pretending racism and sexism don't exist.
