I am ALL for overhauling our country's VERY failed drug laws. They're an absolute mess and getting messier all the time with more and more states legalizing marijuana for medical and/or recreational use.
As for moving marijuana to schedule 2, meh. It's a step in the right direction, but only a tiny one, and classing marijuana as a drug with a “high potential for abuse” is just silly. Schedule 4 or 5 would be more appropriate.
Otoh, sometimes radical changes (which is what full legalization is going to seemlike to some people) go down better when implemented incrementally. Any movement toward full legalization is better than nothing. Schedule 2 would only be minimally better, but at least it's a start.
