Boston Globe: Enough is enough - scrap the third debate

Oct 18, 2016 19:26

OP: I've run across some articles espousing an opinion that the third debate should be canceled, because (basically) what's the point. The piece from the Boston Globe below is just one example.

Enough is enough - scrap the third debateI'm not quite sure what I think about this. As a Clinton supporter, my feeling up to now has been what's not to ( Read more... )

Wow, the media is SO scared I'm gonna destroy their pet Hillary tomorrow that they're trying to interfere to cancel. I bet Pathetic Paul (Ryan) is behind this. No loyalty!

Advice: Really go all-out on the alpha-male displays this time. Spray the lectern. Spray the moderator. Spray the audience. They'll love it!

I'm not gonna watch it. Last debate when he acted her creepy stalker/chair humper was my breaking point.

I'll instead let the Cubs disappointment me again, at least that's just sad and not unsavory

Did Lackey miss the plane or something? Did the equipment manager forget to pack the bats? What the Hell happened?!?

Lackey starts tomorrow hopefully he can shut them down

I was willing to write off game 2 to Kershaw being on top of his game but tonight is giving me that horrible sinking Cubs feeling in the pit of my stomach

Get it together, Arrieta. (As for me tomorrow, I'll be watching preseason basketball, even though neither game I'll get will be my team.)

Honestly, I think that the way Trump is behaving, shows more and more independents just how unsuited he is, and might make a lot of them realize just how strong and capable Hillary is.

Seeing her stand up to him, being graceful, presidential, will hopefully get at least some of the last stragglers to make up their mind and get them to realize that a female president won't be the end of the world.

The gov't & media should do everything they can to keep the process normal and de-escalate Trump's ridiculous claims that if he loses it's because the process is rigged against him.

I agree with this, but also I don't want to set a precedent of cancelling a debate because polls are predicting which candidate is going to win.

I got rid of the extra paragraphs. Sorry about that!

I agree about why the debate needs to go ahead. Where we differ is that I'm too much of a political junkie to not watch, lol. (What can I say, it's like a train wreck--you feel like you shouldn't be staring, but you. just. can't. help. it. Or rather I just can't help it!)

I'm not watching the debates. There's no point to it in my personal view. I've already decided who I'm going to vote for: the competent one who has a chance of winning. I'm not thrilled at this being my choice, but it is what it is ( ... )

I heard NPR talking about Clinton using this debate to call out Trump's claim of rigged election.

I was very happy to hear the NPR follow this with the disclaimer "Trump has presented no evidence to support his claims of a rigged election... " and the I hope this means that the media is not having his bullshit either.
