I was reading recently about the recent 40th anniversary of the 1976 massacre at Bangkok’s Thammasat University (TRIGGER WARNINGS for rape and violence): "Oct. 6, 1976, is a date that still haunts the government and people of Thailand. On it, state forces massacred scores of student activists on the lawn of Bangkok’s Thammasat University". (The article above also talks about how Hong Kong student Joshua Wong was denied entry to Thailand, probably because the Thai (and Chinese) authorities didn't want his visit to encourage talk of democracy. Ugh.)
