That is so fucked up. I shouldn't believe that people would actually say those racist things in 2016 but then I remember how bad comments are online and I remember how shit some people are. It would have been a great segment to see how people in Chinatown (is it the one in NY?) feel about the presidential election imo but of course Fox News fucked it up because that is all that they do.

oh! in other news, I dropped by the local "NH Together Office" today to grab a Clinton/Kaine sign and I signed up to help get out the vote! it'd be amazing if my town turned blue, or at least indigo.

I don't get it when people get made fun of for having an accent when they speak English, mostly because the people making fun of them usually only speak English.

Like, your dumb asses can barely scrape by with one language while these people are doing their best to learn a second (or third or fourth etc) language. Rethink your life choices and back the fuck up.

(The number of times I've called people out for treating my parents like they're dumb or tried to cheat them because they aren't fluent English speakers honestly just pisses me off whenever this subject comes up.)

And it's only "certain" accents that get mocked. French or Italian accents (for example) are "cool" or even "sexy" but anything else is annoying and needs to be mocked. I wonder why!!!

I agree a thousand percent.

I've recently started learning another language (french) and it is really difficult! It has given me a brand new appreciation for people who have uprooted their lives and learned a new language in the process.

And to have people in the new place mock them because their accent is strong is just icing on the shit cake. Those mockers don't have any intention of learning a new language, it's all a bunch of (usually racist) garbage. D:

Yes. All this. Including having to get people to step back from my parents.
