I don't understand all the hate for refuges, we're far more likely to be killed (and for us women, raped) by angry white men with guns then Syrians.

Yup. I know Americans point out how in certain cultures from Arab/Muslim countries don't respect women and/or they mollycoddle boys. That observation isn't totally without merit, but at the end of the day, it was a white guy who raped me when I was 22.

But that’s the equivalent of his saying (not that he does say) that he wants to forbid black people to settle in Indiana not because they’re black but because he’s afraid of them, and since race is therefore not his motive he isn’t discriminating

This reminds me of the time in Arizona v. US when Scalia asserted that Arizona should be able to augment federal immigration as they wish since historically states were allowed to prevent black people from settling in their boarders, and my hate for him grew that day.
