I pitied the man during his Aleppo moment. Sometimes your brain simply fails to make a connection in a certain situation. But come on, this time he had a chance to name any world leader - I understand why you wouldn't necessarily remember a European/African/... one, but why not just go with your direct neighbour and media darling, Justin Trudeau?

I mean I would completely understand the average person on the street not being able to name any European or African leaders, but this dude wants to be president. IMO he really ought to know the top 2-3 names in each area of the world and what they stand for, at a bare minimum...

Well, you could own it and argue that as President you'd focus on national issues and not so much on international ones - keeping America's nose out of wars abroad etc.-, so there's no need to know much about international affairs and the parties involved.
But in this day and age the argument would probably only work for Trump supporters (when uttered by Trump, of course).

"Which world leader are you looking forward to working with and on what issues" is a softball question that would actually give voters some insight, jfc.
