Yessssss! I'm so glad this is going down, and I wish this were getting more coverage than just the far-left press outlets. This should be all over the news.

I'm glad the officers decided to be a part of the strike. The treatment of prisoners in prisons is so inhumane so hopefully with the officers striking some people at the top will be forced to make a decision to help.

wow; that's really good to see. honestly i'm so in awe of this strike. i can't imagine how difficult it is to get something like this going & continuing while incarcerated!

PS: it's from 2013, but I've been thinking of this article a lot since the strike started. Geographies of Detention.

Dissenting view:

No.

Commit a crime do the time. Some of the minor points I will agree with but no, you don't get a free pass just because of overcrowding. Don't want to be in that situation? Don't put yourself there. Also, if you want to be paid a prevailing wage for the work you do you can pay the prevailing fees for your room and board also.

If I or a loved one had a crime perpetrated against us I'd want that perpetrator behind bars for a good long time. So bullshit on these short sentences and early paroles.
