OP: It appears that this article is a satirical piece, and Pence hasn't actually said any of these things. I have changed the tags to reflect this. Mods, should I take this post down? Please advise.

No other source is quoting him as having said that --- though it's sad to say that it's not impossible to imagine he might take such positions, I think we're lookin' at satire here.

Looks like I've been punked!

This thing definitely does read like satire, but I took it at face value because there was nothing at the source that hinted it wasn't a legitimate article. (I just took another look, and I still don't see anything.) Also, it seems to be weirdly specific about certain details, such as exactly when he was supposed to have made the "vice" comment. For those reasons, I thought it was a "real" article.

However, I agree that googling doesn't turn up any other references to the supposed quote. Also, I found by clicking on the author's name that he DOES write satire, which adds to the evidence.

I have added some disclaimers to the post and changed the tags. If the mods think it should come down, I will be glad to comply.

It says a lot about the state of this election that everyone had such a hard time pinning down whether this was satire or not.

So this is a satire piece? Cause I was starting to lose my shit over here. My eyebrows have never danced so much reading an article.

The lines "if we start criticizing deplorables, we run the risk of losing half our voters" and "never mind, it's in the Republican Bible" are pretty obvious indicators of satire.

Although it's true that a lot of things that have actually come out of Trump's mouth in the past year would also qualify as "obvious indicators of satire," so it's getting difficult to tell the difference between a NY Times article and an Onion article.

Good grief. Thank goodness I read the comments. Those tags explained exactly how I felt.
