I'm not going to tell you how to feel, if that's what you mean. But 'Please have a little compassion. We are all learning' isn't cute when there's no way he only just realized that his his marketable cis friend was a good choice for the box office but not for actual trans people. That Eddie Redmayne movie had the exact same problem and it literally debuted last year.

I don't know what to think. My brain wants to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I keep wondering if that makes me a scumbag with white male privilege, etc, etc.

It makes me unconfortable!
