I heard about this, it's horrible. Those poor men :(
I'm very curious what the pro-gun Republicans think of this. Then again, I am also afraid to know because they'll probably come out with something racist.
One of my Muslim friends in NYC was meeting a date for drinks and the bar threw her out because apparently she "made the customers and the staff uncomfortable." She doesn't wear a hijab, she was literally just sitting there in a dress DRINKING ALCOHOL and they thought she was too Muslim to be there.
I was so outraged on her behalf but she just shrugged it off and says this is happening more and more often, which makes me even sadder :/
She had a large bag with her work stuff/gym clothes that she put down next to the bar. The staff said they'll call the police if she didn't remove the bag/herself from the premises. She was just so stunned that she ended up leaving without saying anything.
I lived in the city for most of my life, and I still have a lot of Muslim friends there - nearly every single one of them has a story about being harassed and verbally abused in public. It's scary that it's becoming so common, even in a supposedly place like NY.
