Fifty of the nation’s most senior Republican national security officials, many of them former top aides or cabinet members for President George W. Bush, have signed a letter declaring that Donald J. Trump “lacks the character, values and experience” to be president and “would put at risk our country’s national security and well-being.”

It would be nice if they acknowledged that Trump is their fault. Their party didn't just magically get to this point.

Do they have any plan to prevent this in future elections? So you vote for Hillary or abstain for this election, what's to prevent Trump Part 2: The Re-Trumping happening in the next election?

Say what you will about Clinton, the USA will still be a functioning republic at the end of her term and people will still have human rights and be able to vote her out of office if she doesn't perform her job well enough. I'm honestly afraid that won't be true if Trump gets in office, appoints ultra right wing judges, continues and expands on current Republican Party policies that limit human rights and voting rights, dissolves NATO and damages relationships with our allies and trading partners, and disrupts the global balance of power. Not to mention maybe launching a nuclear bomb or two and starting WWIII.

“and some will not vote, but all agree Trump is not qualified and would be dangerous.”
WTF do they think will happen if people just don't vote at all?

“would be the most reckless president in American history.”
I was thinking about whether that might be hyperbole, but it isn't. Recklessness was exactly the sort of thing that would have prevented someone from advancing politically in earlier times.

Trump is almost the ideal candidate for someone who embraces chaos theory, or even a diehard anarchist. He'll blow things up to the point where they may not work at all. If your goal is "something different"-- even if it isn't better, or likely to be-- he's your man.

Yeah, I can't think of any other word for him but "reckless." Watching that press conference where he was reading those endorsements was so stifling; I can't imagine him maintaining that for any length of time. But he just truly does not care if the shit he's saying is correct or not. It's all about what he feels is true, and that could be really fucking dangerous down the road.
