Russian intelligence and security services have been waging a campaign of harassment and intimidation against U.S. diplomats, embassy staff and their families in Moscow and several other European capitals that has rattled ambassadors and prompted Secretary of State John F. I interned at the US embassy here once, and one of the Americans working there had once worked at the embassy in Russia (I'm not allowed to name names or dates for security purposes).

I don't think they experienced the level of weird shit in this article but they did say they were under constant surveillance and had a tail whenever they left the house.
