When people suffer economic upheaval, the look for scapegoats. In this case, it is the immigrants. Anti-immigrant sentiments are not just a Euro-specific phenomenon. It is common in other parts of the World. I have family members who live in Malaysia where they are openly discriminated against. In Kuwait, they are treated like second class citizen. In India itself, there is a significant movement to curb immigration from Bangladesh.

Very true. One doesn't even have to be an immigrant for this to be the case.

I don't understand why people who align themselves with these values insist on using and hijacking the word "freedom". Nothing about your party platform has anything to do with freedom, sir!
