Judge blocks state law defunding Planned Parenthood in Ohio

A federal judge today temporarily blocked state officials from cutting off Planned Parenthood from more than $1.3 million in funding.

Oh, this is good news!

"There is also no doubt that the Ohio legislature enacted (the law) for the purpose of placing a substantial obstacle in the path of a woman seeking to obtain an abortion," Barrett wrote in his order.

I think this is my favorite part of the story.

All of these states that are enacting one law after another to restrict abortion access are being SO disingenuous, claiming that they're just concerned about women's health and safety, when it's patently obvious that the reverse is true. They make me SICK with their dishonesty, and I feel like hugging this judge for calling Ohio out on this particular case.

Has there been a study of how much states spend litigating these obviously illegal bills they pass? Talking about anti-abortion and anti-LGBT laws in that context may convince people who would typically support these bills and the politicians behind them to reconsider.
