Wow. This is just terrible. I had no idea they were going so far as to try to outlaw miscarriages and birth control.

Also, I didn't know about their racist rhetoric and targeting of WoC, that's really awful.

I think it depends when they put it on the ballot. If it's up for vote in August, when only right wingers and holy rollers vote, it might pass.

The main problem is that, even when voters vote it down, the legislature may decide to override the vote anyway. http://rewire.news/legislative-tracker/law/mississippi-protection-of-the-human-person-act/ (Thankfully the bill died, but still, they tried!)

I hope all these people are resoundingly ousted from office as soon as they are up for re-election.

they won't be. and if their term limit is up, some other christian dominionist will take their place. most of these people are either from the suburbs or some no name rural dirt pile, they have nothing to worry about.

If I could magically whisk away all XX million Evangelicals and Dominionists who can't keep their religion out of government and education to their own island somewhere in the middle of the ocean, I would. Religious zealots are bad for society no matter what brand of religion they embrace.

Back to reality, I still have hopes some of the Evangelical/Dominionist influence is waning. I doubt either Missouri or Kansas will turn blue in the next election, but I think some of areas will start going purple. I'm seeing more progressive grass roots involvement here in the Kansas City metro. Missouri's still got a big problem with entrenched KKK and fundamentalists, especially in the Ozarks.

If anyone was wondering what sort of bullet we dodged when Criz didn't get the nomination...

Yup. I was far more frightened by Cruz than I am by Trump and I think if Trump is elected the rest of the world will turn their backs on us.
