I love the Faber Castell watercolor pencils, the Derwent ones are TRASH in comparison. Although nothing beats digital tbh, especially for my medium of choice (comics)
We got lucky beyond all belief last year = One of the *large* boxes of Prismacolor coloured pencils went on sale for nearly half off on Amazon, and we actually had the money to be able snag it without it doing horrible things to our budget.
And yes, we have a large stockpile of Dover colouring books that we're using them in.
Honestly I'm really annoyed by the complete lack of midrange quality/price sets of markers. (I'm left handed and wary of pencils of all types because smudging). Basically your only options are either a 50 pack of watery Crayolas (lets not talk about how the actual colors don't resemble the caps at all) buying several sets of Sharpies (which ends up with you getting doubles of some colors), ordering Le Plumes online (because apparently AC Moore doesn't carry them anymore, what the hell?!) or dropping mad money on Prismacolors, which hahaha no, not for coloring. You basically end up gambling on no-name sets from China, which sometimes you win, and sometimes they're even crappier than Crayola.
Last time I gambled I ended up with these, which actually ended up being quite nice, both in marker/color quality and price, plus there's the bonus desk stand/box to store them in. I just wish there were more options available for folks that are all about the adult coloring trend but can't stand doing it with pencils.
Ugh, I agree. I love alcohol-based markers, because they don't streak, but I cannot afford Copics or any comparable brand. I understand that those are marketing to professional artists, and I am nothing of the sort, but it'd be nice to have some decent alcohol-based markers at a lower price point and with a variety of colors.
I do have these water-based markers, which I nabbed for a steal from Michael's, once. They're lovely to use with water for the watercolor look, but they aren't that good for coloring directly on the page.

Was basically the stress relief that kept me from throttling my SIL. :D
Its just fun. ( damn hell tho, every place here keeps the 36 and above sets locked up now)
