Ugh. Receiving praise from a man who tried his most to stay in power with non-transparent elections, was best friends with Chavez and followed his political steps, and has a good number of human rights violations under his belt (including HR violation towards the indegenous people he claimed to protect) isn't something I'd be proud of.

Yeaaaaah. My family in Bolivia hates him. They are "upper class" though, so you know, BIG bias.

I think it's incredibly important that the indigenous people in Bolivia have representation in the government. The election stuff gives me big Hugo vibes though. He's definitely no Jose Mujica.

You already know how I feel about left-wing Latin American politicians and how they either violate human rights (Morales, Correa, the Castros, Chavez/Maduro) or they are extremely corrupt and got rich while in the presidency (Kirchners, the Castros, Chavez/Maduro, etc.) - and also how they leeched off my country's resources, but that's another story -, so I'm not debating that. Those facts are very well-documented and I think they deserve to be called out.

But you're right about how the international media, especially in the US, doesn't care about airing the shit out of right-wing governments. The lack of coverage of Uribe's regime is funny, given how he was a right-wing version of Chavez and constantly did awful stuff during his presidency. Same thing with Mexico. There's not even a pretense of trying to be objective when reporting.
