A bill pending in the Senate could drastically improve the sad state of sex education in this country. On Thursday, Sen. Yeah, like sex-ed should be taught by people who are trained to teach sex-ed. Not by English teachers, or Math teachers, or Biology teachers (example).

Yes, Yes, YES to your comment. Sex ed classes should be spread out throughout the year and grades (as obviously there are different issues to talk about for 5th graders than for 10th graders), so that the school district's trained sex ed teacher(s) can have a full-time position and availability to students.

It would be SO awesome if something like this could pass. *sigh* We know the Republicans aren't going to let that happen, but it's nice to dream....

It took me a long time to realize not everybody got the same sex education I did in school. It's really sad how little some people know, even as adults. I know the system failed a lot of people.
