I don't fully understand how the whole US voting system works, but if the delegates can go for whatever candidate they want regardless what the voters want, that doesn't seem democratic

The political parties select their candidate according to their own rules so it doesn't have to be a democratic process, I think that's what a lot of people don't quite grasp

that said, I'm political junkie and the intricacies of delegates is confusing as hell to me as an American so I don't blame you for not getting this nomination process. on both sides it's convoluted as hell.
