I remember reading years ago that Wiki had a problem with female editors and that's reflected in their content. I started watching a lot of films directed by women and I noticed a lot of directors didn't have wiki pages and if their films did then they were often stubs so I've been filling them out more and more and I'm proud that quite a few articles I've started have really grown.
I highly encourage everyone to contribute to wiki, especially if you notice a gap in their articles on women. It's super easy to sign up and then start adding details to wiki pages and then starting on creating new ones.

Yeah, it's been really noticeable in some areas - like, not even just with regards to pages about specific people (women in particular) or things made by those people, but really general topics, where changes made to articles get reverted by page trolls who think only they have the right to make edits and how dare anyone else contribute. >.>
If this was the same article I recall reading, it basically came down to women who wanted to contribute didn't have the time for that bullshit, got discouraged over time by it, and stopped contributing altogether. I don't blame them, but it's just kind of awful all around.
