Interesting article and it certainly seems like a really complicated case. Like, police have to be held accountable for killing people on the job if it's not warranted, but it is not at all radical to wonder if Liang would have been convicted had he been a white officer. I'd imagine he likely would not have been. But then, that doesn't mean his conviction wasn't warranted, which it certainly sounds like it was.

We just need seriously police/justice system reform, big time.

the gifs of the protest were all over my tumblr dashboard and after the 5th or 6th time seeing it, I finally saw commentary saying how fucked up it was that they wanted peter liang to go free just because white officers who killed unarmed black people also went free

I have a lot of Chinese friends that grew up in NYC, and I only posted one article (his being found guilty) about it on fb saying he got his *wake up call* and one person de-added me(i don't like his fake ass anyways), but I have been debating if I should open up about how I feel just so I could get rid of anyone else who shares this sentiment that he should be set free..
I just wish I could find this quote of this Korean woman from the L.A. riots who admitted that the system put Koreans and Black people against one another..cause that's what I feel is happening right now..and I wish they could see that...
