Not surprised by this. He's always stated he wants to work to change the system from within, unlike other 'radical' activists.

I haven't followed him that closely, but I've seen this open letter criticizing his support of Teach For America posted by folks I know on the left:

there was a dustup about this on twitter not too long ago. deray said something about the "achievement gap" and poc activists tried to explain why such a term is problematic and he got his feelings hurt. started subtweeting about providing solutions instead of attacking people who are working towards solutions. wasn't a good look for him cuz he made it all about his ego. i really like him overall, but he's not radical at all. he is very reform > revolution to me.

0.0 Can anybody give me links or your thoughts about his proposals? I only heard complaints of his proposals as neo-liberal?
