i was five when the challenger disaster happened but i have no first hand memories of it. i had afternoon kindergarten so maybe that's the reason, didn't get to see it live.

i am also a senior with no memory of this. don't remember hearing about at school or on the news.

Geez. I hadn't heard before that the astronauts did not die in the explosion.

I was in kindergarten, but I remember it. I saw the news that night, and there may have been an announcement over the loudspeakers at school--I can't remember if that actually happened. My brother had a poster of a space shuttle on the launch pad, and that always reminded me of the accident, which might be why it stuck with me so long.

Did you read some the comments at Gawker? Apparently most of the Challenger crew's remains are still in the cabin, preserved inside some silo.

I was in kindergarten, and I have no memories of this. But, my dad is kind of a space nerd, and I guess he called my mom crying (she was at home with me and my brother, he was at work) when he got the news.

I was nine when it happened. I remember being scared because of not knowing why it happened.

My mother got an application for that, because she was a teacher. Absolutely horrifying.
