Jan 05, 2016 13:45

After being questioned on how exactly he plans to destroy the large banking and financial institutions and why his plan would be better than Secretary Clinton's, Bernie gave a MUST SEE speech where he called everyone out and explained it like we're five.

Will they like me? No. Will they begin to play by the rules if I’m president? You better believe it.

And there will be a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage. Campaign promise just got to love them. Because unless he has the Congress in his pocket that is all he is offering. With a Republican Senate and House Sanders is pissing in the wind. There is no candidate running today that I would happily vote for but Bernie is making too big of promises that he can't keep.

I don't think a lot of us are assuming that a Sanders election would also continue to carry a Republican legislature. Democrats do better in Presidential elections years, and should his momentum carry him enough to win the nom, then it would be fair to assume that enough would also show up in the general to change congress (at least the upper house) over to blue. That makes a large part of what he wants to do all the more possible. Hence why he makes it clear in his speeches, electing him isn't enough- we have to vote in the congress to do it.

Which he will help accomplish by...not raising any money for down-ballot races?

Lol. Except that the joint fundraising deal- if anything like Clinton's, gives overage donations to the DNC. Since Bernie is only fundraising with small reoccurring donations, then there wouldn't be a lot past the donation limits to give the DNC, is there? And considering he's running against "the establishment" I assume a majority of his supporters don't want to donate to the DNC and would rather give that money to Bernie anyways- but when they show up to vote for him, they'll vote for Dem's too.

i screamed when he made that dante's inferno reference, it was amazing.

the whole speech was great tbh, i'm just mad i learned about it so late or else i would've gone.

and omg i'm such a nervous wreck over how close the iowa caucus. i don't think he could recover from losing it, even if he won NH.

I made my first ever political donation to Bernie last month because my small amount actually makes a difference with him. Even if he doesn't get the nomination, I want Clinton to sweat it. She's not an ideologue and will go where the political wind is and I want her to feel pressured by progressives who are too polite for that most election years.

“That will change under my administration. ‘Equal justice under law’ will not just be words engraved on the entrance of the Supreme Court. It will be the standard that applies to Wall Street and all Americans.”
