This is truly awful. It reminds me of WW2 refugees who escaped with nothing but their family's jewels and many of them were forced to sell after the war to rebuild their lives. Rich people bought them at a considerable discount and made more money off them in resale. I think part of taking in refugees is knowing that they will assimilate and begin to work for your economy-- but for that to happen, they have to want to be a part of your country and robbing them doesn't send that message.
And OP, as soon as I can get my livejournal out of Russian, I will add that tag
Denmark has handled the whole refuge crisis terribly, I'm so ashamed. They complain about the refugees coming and then when the refuges say they don't want to stay, but want to go to Sweden, they complain about that. Even though they are the ones printing ads etc. about what a terrible country Denmark is to live in for refuges.
As serious as this is, this is the first thing that went through my mind.
So glad that others are comparing these assholes who want this in place to that. And the send a message part? They are sending a message. A message that Denmark would rather become Nazis to stop asylum seekers than do a rampant campaign of 'bitch it cold here' or something else. Trying to rebuke any of that is akin to saying 'I'm not *blank*, I have *blank* friends and they are okay with it.'
