Honestly, with the way things have been going over the last few years, I wouldn't be surprised if it's illegal in the US in the next few years. I really wish that Obama had done more on this issue, though I'm not sure what he could have done. I'm just glad that Harper here in Canada is pretty hands off when it comes to abortion, along with most other Canadian politicians.

Only because the Canadian public forced Harper to swear publicly that he'd never campaign for abortion during his election campaigns. And even then, they've tried to 're-open discussions' in the past...

Will this hit job really make a difference? Haven't most people learned that when these kind of videos appear, that they always end up being lies? Maybe I'm just hopeful that people aren't that naive.

It will make a difference in that PP will have to spend precious money fighting it off. Even if PP is exonerated in the end the forced-birthers will still have struck a blow.

I have no doubt Planned Parenthood will exonerated in the eyes the general public, but there will always be those who refuse to acknowledge it and use these allegations as a platform for attack on PP and abortion rights. The organization's reputation and finances are going to be badly hurt by this smear job for a long, long time. I'd love to see a thorough expose of the chain of organizations behind this "sting" and possibly some civil and/or criminal charges.

The article linked at the end points out that the group responsible for this crap lied about their purpose when applying for tax-exempt status with the IRS...I think that alone is going to have nasty consequences for them.

I saw that. I don't know if it'll lead to charges or fines, but I hope it'll at least trigger a deeper investigation. I'd like to see charges for defamation and damages, not just against the perpetrators but also against those who funded it and those who seek to use an easily debunked piece of libelous propaganda as a tool to further erode women's rights.
