This is such an amazing thing, and I think will genuinely make such a difference in the lives of those so-often forgotten. Besides the most obvious benefit of improved hygiene, the simple act of being able to take a shower has such a healing effect on your mind. It feels good, it's soothing, and that little bit of normalcy and relaxation will mean so much to so many people.

The tourists who go to see the beauty need to understand why the beauty exists, that the buildings serve a purpose beyond being museums and as a community have an obligation for outreach. The church is not and never will be perfect, but this, at least, is an effort to do more.

I so agree. I will always have problems with Catholic Doctrine, or pretty much any organized religion (I'm a Christian, but I've yet to find a church or sect I agree with 100%). But in the things that he seems to focus his and the public's attention, I can't deny that he is walking the walk.
