When “neutral” means almost anyone can openly carry loaded guns into your place of business, remaining “neutral” is in effect siding with the gun extremists. That’s how frightening this debate has become.
That should be such an elementary realisation: If A wants to do X and B wants people to be forbidden from doing X, then allowing A to do X is not neutrality.
I'd be scared out of my mind living in a place where people think they should be able to carry a weapon everywhere and be allowed to use it, particularly people of the decency, responsibility, and respect for others their bullying seems to indicate.
From what is described in the post, no one can tell me that their desire for firearms has anything to do with "security" or "self-defense". They want to be the big strong gorilla, and as they seem to be lacking in any quality that would make a person respect them out of their own merit, they need to show others that they could kill them at any moment.
Same here, it would be scary as hell. And my impression is that a lot of these guys carry their weapons everywhere just so they won't miss a chance to use them for real should an opportunity present itself. Not so much because they are afraid they might get attacked. But maybe I am just being too cynical.
I also notice how those gun nuts are almost uniformly white men. They seem to be able to flaunt their weapons in public without problems. But as a black man you can get shot just for trying to buy an unloaded bb gun at Walmart.
Because nothing says "we should be trusted with guns" than bullying and threats. And the people arguing that gun owners are responsible, trustworthy people who use and carry guns safely never object to their own members behaving this way. These people can't be trusted with a computer and can't handle people disagreeing with them, why should they be trusted with a gun?
